Just to update matters on the youth side of things as we enter our final week of the season.  As reported the under 11B and C teams finished runners up and the A team matched that ending the year in joint 2nd place.  The under 13As won their final game (and a thriller it was too) and also finished the year as runners up.  We had 2 B teams, the North side just missed out on a semi final place while the South side suffered unusally in what was a decent summer with rain affected games.  The under 15s didnt enjoy great success but they continued training in great numbers and with great enthusiasm. The 17s were competitive and ended 2nd in their group while the 19s lost their final.  On the girls side, we didnt enjoy much success at 11s or 13s but I feel that we are close to reaping the rewards of Friday nights and improved coaching structures.  Speaking of Friday nights, these were as popular as ever and as he finishes 4 years of co ordinating the night, I wish to acknowledge the role of Paddy Lee in its great success.  So no silverware this year, but that is just around the corner, I feel.

Some thank yous, at under 11 level the following must be thanked for their management, scoring, umpiring, supply of mid match drinks and never ending support, John Barry, Peter Duggan, Brian McNeice, the Curry Family, the Makin Family. Under 13s, Gerry Delany once again did great work, there were a variety of managers for the B and Cs and thanks to all those.  Hugo Whelan was a great manager for the 19s.

Parents throughout provided lifts and we would be lost without them, particularly for mid week games.

Finally the coaching team, Selena, Richie, Eoghan, Laura, Adrian, Andrew gave great guidance to all our players throughout the year.  Finally of course, Rod Hokin pulls everything together like magic and makes it work, Rod, THANK YOU VERY MUCH for all you do.

The under 11B team hoped to go 1 better than the 11Cs last night but unfortunately they came up against a very fine Leinster side and were unable to win the trophy.  They did however put up a very good performance in every part of the game.  The team was led by Harry Oppermann and the other players were, Fintan Birch, Liam Fanning, Daniel O’Sullivan, Alex Finn, Mark Quinn, Sean Barry, David O’Mahony, Gareth Moriarty, Daire Vickers and sub fielder Andrew Synnott.  (see team photo in the photo tab) Special word of thanks to the manager John Barry for all his work during the season.

What a great week for the Under 11 squads which sees every team in that category still competitive in the final days of the season. 

Due to the afternoon rain and forecast for this evening, the Under 11B final has been postponed.  The refix date has been set and it will now take place on Friday 20th in Clontarf at 5pm.  See you then.

Sadly the Under 11C team lost their final to YMCA by the incredibly small margin of 5 runs this evening.  The game went to the very last ball in a very tense game which ebbed and flowed throughout.  The boys were a great credit to themselves and the club. Thanks to the excellent crowd to came to watch and cheer them on.  The team were Eoghan Doody (capt), Hugh Tobin, Pearse McKeon, Mark Tynan, Matthew Bellantani, Andrew Synnott, Brian Collins, Mark Duggan, Callum Buchan, David Vincent and Liam Ennis. Following on from Tuesdays Under 11C semi final victory it was the turn of the 11Bs to play their semi against YMCA.  The team defended their total of of 98 for 5 to win through to their final which will be played on Thursday in Clontarf with a 5pm start.  Deryck

The Under 11C final will take place on Wednesday in YMCA, with a 5.30pm start. We hope to see as many of you there as possible to cheer on the team.  Deryck 

Well done to the Under 11C team who beat Railway Union to advance to the final, where they will play either The Hills or YMCA.  It was a fine all round team effort but the fielding was exceptional in very difficult conditions.  As soon as details of the final are known I will post them but dont forget that the Under 11Bs need your support on Tuesday night in Clontarf at 6pm against YMCA.

Friday 13th Of August is our final night of coaching for our youngest members this season.  Unfortunately, we will not be holding a BBQ as our under 19 team (and expert BBQers) have qualified for their Cup Final, good luck to them. 

Hope to see you on Friday and finish off another season in style.

The under 19 team play in the Cup Final on Friday against Pembroke in Pembroke CC starting at 5pm.  They would love your support as they seek to retain the trophy.  Under the leadership of Manager Hugo Whelan, the team are unbeaten and hope to keep it that way.

The under 11B team play their semi final against YMCA on Tuesday 17th August in Clontarf with a 6pm start.  We are still awaiting confirmation of who the Under 11C team will play in their semi final but the game is likely to be on Monday evening at the conclusion of the International game v Holland.  There is no excuse to miss these matches!
